Basic Coatings StreetShoe 275 Review

If you haven’t already, I recommend you first read my review of Basic Coatings Lock Basic Coatings Streetshoe 275 N’ Seal sealer first which is my recommendation for a wood floor sealer before you move on to the final coat of finish.

Flawless Finish Appearances

Basic Coatings top-of-the-line product, Streetshoe275 has the ability to give you as close to a flawless finish as possible. Why? Because it’s designed to flow out nice and even. Do this right and it will look like you sprayed it on and it flowed perfectly.

If I expect to get great results in the final coat, my sealer underneath better be right. If it is, then I’m almost done. The finish line is in view. No pressure! This last step is my big money shot. If I get this wrong, I’ll be forced to screen and coat again. At a price of roughly $100 per gallon, I definitely don’t want to do it again. Okay, I’m going to take a deep breath. This is going to be easy. Preparation and environmental conditions are dialed in and this is going to look great.

Preferred Techniques

I like to roll my final coat with a ¼” nap paint roller and overlap my work to create a finish with no lap marks or pull off marks. This technique requires 100% more time and effort compared to using a t-bar but the reward is a finish that looks sprayed on with very even sheen. You just can’t beat the visual quality of this product when it’s rolled on properly. Maintain a still environment with no airflow according to the

manufacturer’s directions. After a few hours, you can put fans on it to promote faster drying.

LEED compliant Low VOC

Streetshoe275 is available in four sheens (Gloss, Semi-Gloss, Satin, and Super Matte) but my customers have typically selected Satin. It’s a LEED compliant Low VOC product so you can bid on those jobs which call for it. Your workspace will be able to return to service the next day because the product will be 90% cured in only 24 hours. Streetshoe275 is a UV stable product which will not yellow with age like the typical oil-based polyurethane.

So we’ve covered the use of Lock ‘N Seal and StreetShoe 275 (links below) as a powerful one-two punch to deliver knockout results. How much will this system cost? That will depend on your local supplier but I budget about $40 per gallon for the sealer and $100 for the finish. On a 1,000 square foot sand and finish floor, I’ll purchase 5 gallons of Lock ‘N Seal and 3 gallons of StreetShoe275. I might have a full unopened gallon kit of the Streetshoe275 after the finish but I’d rather not run out.
