Hardwood Flooring Scrapers
The flooring scraper is a tool needed for corners
or other areas (under kitchen cabinet shown below) the sanding equipment has not been able to reach. Due to the design of sanding machines, areas will be void of the finishing touches before and finish is applied.
Important to keep in mind when using these hand held items is keeping the blades sharp at all times. This includes checking the actual blade appearance. Not doing so may result in flaws when finishes are
applied. In other words, the blade picked up a small nick, perhaps from an exposed nail head in the floor. Without removal, errors may become noticeable after it's too late.
Upon using the tool it is vital to scrape with the grain and not across. It can take some time getting used to, so if you’re up to the challenge give it a go in a closet first to get the hang of it. After the scraping has removed the areas the sanding machines have not, professionals use the same sanding grit for the finishing touches.
