We Cork Flooring

We Cork Flooring doesn't offer the wide range of color selections like that of We Cork Flooringother cork flooring manufacturers by staying within an earth toned appearance or what the company describes as light, medium, or dark shades. Part of the Wicanders Cork Company, we found their finishing systems to be exceptional by way of their proprietary Greenshield product that utilizes ceramic oxide; more resistant to wear and scratching than more popular aluminum oxide finishes. The company does offer more traditional waxed finishes and can deliver unfinished cork products or special dimensions and thicknesses.

Like similar cork manufacturers, both a simpler floating locking system is sold along with more traditional gluedown tiles, The latter offered in two thicknesses should only be installed by highly experienced professionals. Gluedown installations require the utmost patience and substrate preparation to insure success. Contact type

adhesives in the likes of 3M's Fastbond water-based adhesive 30-NF contact adhesive or DAP Weldwood Nonflammable Contact Cement are strongly recommended but other more common ones are approved such as Bostiks Best and DriTac 6200. Rolling of finished surfaces is urged to insure sufficient adhesive contact with material.

As far as cork being touted as a superior green friendly building material we find many consumers don't think about the large amounts of petroleum used to transport from the only growing region in the world, the Mediterranean; some 4,000 miles to South Florida or an enormous 8,000 to the California west coast through the Panama Canal.
