Wicanders Cork Flooring

Wicanders Cork has been a leading innovator when it comes to cork flooring. Not only are their products assembled in the USA unlike many others, the company in coordination with BASF, the worlds leading chemical company has made efforts in creating a 100% formaldehyde free product (named Acrodur) with the use of a green friendly, water based binder with their cork sheet production.

An emerging look from some manufacturers including Wicanders, is a beveled appearance which helps to define the plank floor look. Look for this in their Cork plank series. Not like traditional wood planks as dimensions run approximately 36 in length and 4 3/8 inch widths. Still, it serves as a unique alternative

Another line worth mentioning is a unique contemporary look in the Metallic Audacity collection that offers a reflective appearance. Other products colors

standing out ahead of the competition can be slate styled looks from near pure blacks to several white tones.

As far as finish technology, Wicanders utilizes a ceramic compounded product named Xtreme WRT. Reports indicate it being far more resistant to ordinary wear that any floor encounters when comparing with more popular aluminum oxide coatings.

Another product worth mentioning is their WICWood product line offered in 12 species as of our findings in December 2010. Benefits include an insulating cork layer on the underside of each plank. 0.5 mm veneer with ceramic type finish surface with a glue less type installation.
